Three members of a Hyderabad family drowned in the Godavari river near Basar while taking a holy dip during a pilgrimage. Police suspect they were swept away by a strong current while trying to rescue one another. A search operation is underway
Nirmal: Three persons from a family in Hyderabad drowned in the Godavari river while taking a dip near Basar on Tuesday.
Police said that Chandrashekhar (38), Ramchandar (36) and Mallesh Kumar, all members of a family from Chappal Bazar in Kachiguda, drowned while attempting to rescue one another. They are suspected to have been washed away by the strong current. Police launched a search operation to trace the bodies of the three by deploying personnel of the State Disaster Response Force.
The trio were on a pilgrimage to Basar and were taking a holy dip when the mishap took place. The police informed the parents and family members of the three about the tragic incident over mobile phones. Family members of the victims were on their way to Basar. Further details are awaited.
