Hyderabad: One person suffered serious injuries while two others sustained minor injuries when an electric hoarding collapsed on the Jampannavagu-Gaddela Road at Medaram on Friday.
As there was no heavy rush of devotees at the time, a major incident was averted. The injured were rushed to a local hospital.
The incident occurred at the Haritha ‘Y’ junction when workers were erecting an electric name hoarding. Locals said there was no proper coordination between different line departments executing basic works at Medaram. As people attempted to record visuals on their mobile phones, officials and contractors present at the spot did not permit them to do so, according to reports.
The injured has been identified as E Narsaiah. He fumed at the police personnel deployed at the spot for failing to help him.
“I got stuck under the hoarding. Despite my wife appealing to the police for help, they did not support. About 20 other devotees immediately helped me,” Narsaiah said, as per reports.
With the Medaram festivities set to commence in a few days, devotees have expressed concern over the lack of coordination between different departments and the slow pace at which works are being taken up.
