Hyderabad:  A mobile ethanol-powered 150 kW DC fast charger, the ME Energy Rapid Charger 150 was launched here by ThunderPlus and Trinity Cleantech marking a step  toward grid-independent, sustainable EV infrastructure in India.

Unlike conventional chargers that require grid infrastructure and long approval timelines, this ethanol-based unit is fully operational within 72 hours and can be deployed anywhere. It reduces Carbon Dioxide emissions by up to 80 per cent compared to diesel and slashes setup costs and time by over 50 per cent, a company press release said on Wednesday.

Rajeev YSR, CEO of ThunderPlus, called the solution “Liquid Electricity,” emphasizing its role in solving India’s charger-anxiety and diesel dependence. Mahesh Babu, MD of Olectra Green Tech, highlighted its utility for fleet operators and roadside assistance.

Manufactured under a patented license from Germany’s ME Energy GmbH, the charger aligns with India’s Atma Nirbhar Bharat and biofuel goals, inspired by Minister Nitin Gadkari’s ethanol advocacy, the press release added.

The charger opens new possibilities for highway charging, remote depots, and green power in off-grid areas, offering a scalable and eco-friendly alternative to diesel gensets.
