Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Sirpur (T) MLA Koneru Konappa on Thursday assured all support to the family of the tribal youngster, Sidam Vignesh who was mauled to death by a tiger on the outskirts of Digida village in Dahegaon mandal on Wednesday. He consoled the family when he called on them at remote village. The MLA was accompanied by In-charge Superintendent of Police V Satyanarayana.
Talking to pressmen, Konappa termed the incident as unfortunate. He promised to offer all the support from the government to the kin. He spoke to Conservator of Forest CP Vinod Kumar over the phone and requested him to provide a job to Dashraiah, the father of Vignesh with the forest department. He interacted with the witnesses of the attack Portheti Naveen and Sidam Srikanth and found out about the incident.
The legislator extended monetary aid of Rs 20,000 to the kin of the victim. He stated the Sirpur (T) segment was seeing a rise in the attacks by tigers against cattle. He instructed officials of the forest department to take steps to prevent recurrence of animal-human conflict and to create awareness among the public over safety.
Satyanarayana said that the police were bringing about awareness among the rural folk about the need to protect forests. He warned that stringent action would be taken against those who commit hunting of wild animals and smuggling of teak trees. He added that the forest crimes were controlled with police laying a special focus on the menace.
The 21-year-old son of a farmer died on the spot when the big cat attacked him on the fringes of a forest where he had taken cattle for grazing and fishing in a stream near his village. His two friends Naveen and Srikanth, who were also with him, managed to escape unhurt in the incident. It’s the first killing by a carnivore in Telangana after several years.
