Hyderabad: Sporting XI defeated Deccan Chronicle by 48 runs in the final to emerge champions of the inaugural edition of the Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi T20 Tiger Cup that concluded at Uppal Stadium on Wednesday.
Sai Pragnay Reddy (42) and medium-pacer Rishith Reddy (4/16) were the star performers for Sporting XI. Continuing his good form, Pragnay Reddy helped Sporting XI to 147/5 in 20 overs. Left-handed opener Thakur Tilak Varma made 26 while Kamal Sawariya struck a useful 38.
Chasing a modest target, Deccan Chronicle were bundled out for 99 with Rishith Reddy returning with four wickets.
Hyderabad Cricket Association president Mohammed Azharuddin, who presented the trophy, said that it will be their endeavor to promote and support deserving young cricketers by organizing a camp, a first for the Under-19 players.
Vanka Pratap, the newly appointed Director of Hyderabad Cricket Academy of Excellence, assured that he will be announcing the modalities of the academy soon.
