Tiger from MS continues to move in forests of Jainoor and Narnoor

Forest department officials reported that a male tiger from the Painganga Wildlife Sanctuary, spanning Nanded and Yavatmal districts, has been roaming the forests near Panapatar village in Jainoor and Thadihathnoor village in Narnoor mandal. On November 18, the tiger moved toward the forests of Narnoor.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A tiger from Maharashtra continued to move in the forests of Jainoor and Narnoor mandals for the fourth day on Friday, panicking locals.

Officials of the forest department said that a male tiger living in Painganga Wildlife Sanctuary located in Nanded and Yavatmal districts had been moving in the forests of Panapatar village in Jainoor and Thadihathnoor village in Narnoor mandal. The tiger drifted towards the forests of Narnoor on November 18.

The officials said that CCTV camera traps were installed in the forests, while five teams of animal trackers were deployed to track the movement of the big cat. They stated that they were raising awareness among villagers by creating WhatsApp groups in every mandal. They added that local forest officials were giving suggestions to the villagers on the instant messaging application.

Popular as Johnny, the adult tiger entered the forests of Utnoor mandal from Pembi mandal in Nirmal district. It initially strayed into the forests of Boath mandal before wandering in the forests of Kuntala, Sarangapur and Mamada mandals in search of a female companion. It travelled over 350 kilometers in its marathon quest to meet a mate, officials stated.

Meanwhile, two tigers from Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra strayed into the forests of Sirpur (T) mandal in search of a mate and territory. Forests of the district have already been inhabited by around 10 tigers including 2 tigresses for quite a long time. Another male tiger entered the forests of Tiryani mandal recently.
