Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A buffalo was killed by a tiger on the outskirts of Dharogapalli village in Penchikalpet mandal on Sunday evening.

A shepherd said that a buffalo belonging to Varimadla Srinivas was killed by a tiger while a herd of cattle were returning to the village from nearby forests. He stated that the tiger attacked the buffalo and killed it by biting its neck. He added that he ran away from the spot and informed villagers about the incident.

Penchikalet FRO Anil Kumar told media that they would inspect the spot of the incident on Monday. He stated that more details of the tiger could be known only after recording its pug marks and photographs. He informed that awareness was created among the villagers over the movement of the tiger and urged them not to venture deep inside of forests for grazing cattle. They assured that compensation would be given immediately if tiger kills cattle.

Officials further said that the forests of Penchikalet were inhabited by a tiger titled K8 for quite a long time. It has to be ascertained whether the buffalo was killed by K8 or a migrant tiger. The same tiger was sighted while crossing a road between Sulugupalli and Loadpalli village in Penchikalpet mandal late on Friday night.

According to the officials, tigers have attacked 40 cattle in the district and killed one woman, Morle Lakshmi (21) apart from attacking a farmer this year so far.
