Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A tiger killed a cow in a stream between Kukuda and Marthadi villages in Bejjur mandal on Sunday night, creating a flutter. The incident came to the fore when locals spotted carcass of the cattle on Monday.
Bejjur Forest Range Officer Dayakar Purka said that the cattle belonging to Made Rajanna of Kukuda village was killed by a tiger. Pugmarks of the big cat were noticed at the spot. CCTV cameras were installed for establishing identity of the carnivore, which was likely to come back to eat it, he stated, adding, rural folks were sensitised over the movement of the big cat.
The incident caused panic among rural folks dwelling in many villages of Bejjur mandal. Dwellers of forest fringe villages in Penchikalpet and Dahegaon mandals were already reeling under the grip of fear following to two human kills by a big cat titled A2 in November last. They requested foresters to take steps for preventing further human loss in this region.
