Tiger movement triggers panic among villagers in Mancherial
Police arrested three members of an inter-district job fraud gang for cheating over 240 jobseekers across Telangana by promising government jobs. Fake appointment orders were seized, while two accused remain absconding.
Mancherial: Movement of a tiger triggered panic among villagers in Peddampet village in Hajipur mandal on Saturday.
Locals said they spotted pugmarks of a tiger near a canal of an irrigation project on the outskirts of the village and requested officials to take steps to track its movement to avoid human casualties. They said they were frightened to enter their farms and take up agricultural activities following the presence of the animal.
Forest officials who inspected the spot said a female tiger was wandering in the forests and urged residents of Gollapalli, Buddipalli, Peddampet and surrounding villages to remain cautious. They advised farmers and toddy tappers to move in groups and visit their farms only when necessary.
They said the tiger had migrated from Maharashtra in search of territory in 2025 and has been staying in the district since then.
