Mahabubabad: A tiger was sighted in the forest areas of Kothaguda mandal in the district. It is said that the tiger had even killed a cow of one Pulusam Ramaiah of Jangamvani gudem of Kothaguda mandal on Sunday. Speaking to Telangana Today, District Forest Officer (DFO), T Ravi Kiran said, “The presence of the tiger was confirmed. But we are not sure that it had killed the cattle,” The forest staff reportedly found the pug marks of a tiger near Apparajupally village of Gudur mandal in the district several days ago. It may be added here that the tiger was spotted near Azamnagar village Bhupalpally mandal in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district in August this year after more than a decade.

After a week or so, it entered the Odedu village of Peddapalli district by crossing the Manair River, and again carnivores feline was spotted near NTPC, Ramagundam in Peddapalli district last month. A tiger and cub were reportedly spotted in the forest areas of Kannaigudem mandal under Eturnagaram wildlife sanctuary in October. It seems that the tiger was moving in the forest areas under the Eturunagaram and Pakhal wildlife sanctuaries spread over the erstwhile Warangal district. The forest officials have also initiated steps to protect the big cat and see that it would make the forests of erstwhile Warangal district as its home. A proposal to make tiger reserve in the erstwhile district is also on the cards.
