Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A tiger, which was sighted in Kasipet mandal of Mancherial district, has now been found moving in the forests of Rebbena and Tiryani mandals of this district for the past two days, officials said.
Forest officials confirmed that the tiger has been roaming in the forests of the two mandals since Friday. It killed cattle in Rebbena mandal recently. Its movement is being tracked by installing CCTV camera traps. It is suspected to have migrated to the district from Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) of Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district in search of territory a few months ago.
The officials urged locals to be cautious of the tiger while moving in farms and on forest fringes. They advised villagers not to enter deep inside the forests to graze cattle. They requested the villagers to avoid sudden encounters with the tiger and told farmers to move in groups while taking up farm activities.
The tiger earlier moved in the forests of Kasipet and killed two calves a fortnight back, triggering panic among locals. It drifted towards the district from Tiryani mandal in the past. Special teams have been formed to trail the tiger.
