Tight police vigil ensures incident-free New Year celebrations in Hyderabad

Hyderabad welcomed the New Year without any untoward incidents as strict police vigilance on drunk driving ensured peaceful celebrations. Revellers marked the occasion late into the night, while large numbers of devotees thronged temples, including Birla Mandir, on Thursday morning.

Hyderabad: A tight vigil by the city police on drunk driving ensured the New Year eve revelries in Hyderabad passed off without any untoward incidents on Wednesday night.

The city ushered in Year 2026 with revelries, bursting of crackers, exchanging warm greetings and shopping for cakes till late night.


Seeking to usher in a new beginning of the year on an auspicious note, people thronged places of worship in large numbers on Thursday morning. Large crowds were witnessed at Birla Mandir among other places of worship today morning.
