Sangareddy: IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao said that the time has come to celebrate the birth of girl children in Telangana as the government has initiated several schemes to make women stronger financially and educationally in Telangana. Apart from opening several educational institutions in Telangana exclusively for women, the IT Minister said that the Telangana government has come up with schemes such as the Kalyana Lakshmi cheque, KCR Kits and several others.
Participating in International Women’s Day celebrations at GMR Convention Centre in Patancheru on Tuesday, the Minister said the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao took several initiatives for the empowerment of the women during the past eight years. Saying that the Chief Minister has become an uncle for brides in Telangana by extending financial support during their marriage, Rao said that they had given Kalyana Lakhsmi and Shadi Mubarak benefit to 10 lakh brides by spending over Rs 9,000 crore. To restrict the maternal and child mortality rate, he said that they have provided all the facilities at the government hospitals which increased the deliveries in manifolds besides giving KCR Kits to 11 lakhs people so far. Stating that they have set up We Hub to support the young women entrepreneurs in the State, the IT Minister said they have introduced she teams and opened Bharosa Centres for the protection of the women. Over 6,000 women from across Patancheru Assembly Constituency have participated in Women’s Day celebrations on this occasion. He further said that they have allocated funds for setting up an exclusive University for Women in Telangana. Saying that the women of Telangana used to spend their day fetching water from long distances, the IT Minister said that they were providing drinking water in every house by ending all their issues. Rao said that they have put an end to the drinking water woes of Nalgonda district where Fluorosis hit the people
Several women were felicitated by the IT Minister. Raman Rao has presented Rs 42.53 crore loan cheque to SHG women on this occasion.
Patancheru MLA Gudem Mahipal Reddy has hailed Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao as a man who always favours women.
