Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao said the people of Gajwel need to support former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, stating that he had transformed the constituency after being elected as MLA from Gajwel in 2014.

Addressing a municipal election campaign meeting in Gajwel town on Thursday, Harish Rao asked the people to recall the condition of the constituency before Chandrashekhar Rao’s election. He elaborated on the development works undertaken, including the 250-bed hospital, railway connectivity, underground drainage, the mini tank bund, and several other facilities.

Rao said the BRS government put an end to drinking water problems in the town by launching the Mission Bhagiratha programme from Gajwel. He added that Chandrashekhar Rao had established multiple educational institutions, including education hubs, apart from a women’s degree college. He said the BRS government also set up SC, ST, BC, and minority residential schools in the constituency.

Highlighting what he termed the failures of the Congress government, Harish Rao said Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy had failed to release Yasangi Rythu Bharosa to farmers. He demanded that Revanth Reddy release the assistance before February 11, assuring that he would write to the Election Commission conveying the BRS consent for the release of funds even when the election code was in force.

He further spoke about what he described as the Congress government’s failure to keep its promises and alleged neglect of Telangana by the BJP-led Central government. Calling upon voters to elect BRS councillors in the Gajwel municipality, Rao said this would ensure more development in the town in the coming days. He expressed confidence that the BRS would return to power in Telangana within two years.
