Nalgonda: In a shocking incident, S. Nagaraju, a tipper driver, attempted to take his life after allegedly being brutally beaten by a sub-inspector at the Tirumalgiri police station in Nalgonda district on Friday. The incident occurred following a complaint by the tipper operator, accusing Nagaraju of stealing fuel from the vehicle.
Nagaraju, who recorded a video of the extreme step, pleaded his innocence and claimed that the sub-inspector assaulted him without listening to his pleas. He attempted to hang himself from a tree branch but was saved at the last minute by an onlooker who intervened.
The driver was picked up by the police based on the complaint, and it is alleged that a local elected representative was instrumental for the harsh treatment meted out to him at the police station. Nagaraju has been shifted to a hospital for treatment following the incident.
The incident has sparked outrage in the village with many calling for an investigation into the alleged police brutality and the role of the local representative.
