Visakhapatnam: The construction of the Lord Venkateswara temple of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam near Rushikonda beach here is complete and the inauguration is tentatively fixed for August 13.
Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is expected to attend the opening ceremony of the temple built on about ten acres at a cost of Rs. 26 crore between the GITAM University and Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering at Rushikonda. The Mahasamprokshana and other rituals for consecration of the temple are expected to be performed from August 9 to 13. After the inaugural ceremony, the temple would be open for darshan by devotees.
The city temple will be similar to the Tirumala temple in some respects. It has the idol of Sri Hanuman in front of the Lord Venkateswara like in Tirumala. Similarly, temples for Sridevi and Bhudevi are built next to the main temple.
The idols of the deities including the Srivari Paadaalu are sculpted at the SV Institute of Traditional sculpture and Architecture (SVITSA) in Tirupati. There is also a 15-seat Dhyan Mandir and a banquet hall for performing marriages at the premises. A 500-metre ghat road is laid from the beach road to the temple for the convenience of visitors to the temple where all rituals will be performed on the lines of the Tirumala temple.
