Hyderabad: Pilgrimage travel to Tirupati has led to a sharp rise in bus bookings from Telangana, with Hyderabad emerging as one of the busiest origin cities ahead of the weekend and the ongoing Jyeshta Abhishekam festivities.
According to online ticketing platform ‘RedBus’, bus bookings from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are expected to grow by 22 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Routes connecting Hyderabad with Tirupati, Vijayawada, Bengaluru and Chennai have witnessed strong demand.
In Hyderabad, major boarding points such as MGBS, Kukatpally, Gachibowli, Miyapur, Lakdikapul and Ameerpet recorded high passenger traffic.
The data also showed that AC buses accounted for 65 per cent of bookings, while sleeper coaches made up 58 per cent, reflecting a preference for comfortable long-distance travel.
Young travellers aged between 18 and 30 years constituted nearly half of all bookings, while demand remained strong from both urban centres and smaller towns across Telangana.
The trend has also highlighted growing pilgrimage and weekend travel activity from Hyderabad and other parts of the state during the summer travel season.
