Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a 16-month-old girl died after accidentally falling into a bucket filled with water when playing in her house in Kanchanbagh, leaving her family devastated.

According to police, the incident occurred in the C-Block locality of Hafeez Baba Nagar. The child’s father, Mohd Asif Khan, works in sheet lining services and lives with his wife Habiba Unnisa and their three daughters near Harmain Masjid.

On June 14, the family attended a function at a relative’s house near Omar Farooq Masjid. While Asif Khan returned home later, his wife and children stayed back. On June 15 around 1 am, the toddler, Ayanan, was bathed by her mother after she soiled herself. Believing the child was playing with other children nearby, the mother briefly stepped away.

A short while later, the child’s uncle, Mohd Moin, noticed the girl submeri in a bucket of water when he went to wash his hands in the bathroom area. Family members immediately rushed her to a nearby private hospital and later shifted her to Niloufer Hospital for treatment.

Despite doctors’ efforts, the toddler succumbed while undergoing treatment later in the day.
