Hyderabad: A senior most naxalite leader Dubasi Shankar who went by the name of Ramesh in the Maoist party was arrested along with his associate by Odisha police near Biparguda village on Tuesday, according to information reaching here. Dubasi Shankar, a native of Medak district and currently the member of the Andhra Orissa Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) has been with the Maoist party for nearly three decades.
Dubasi Shankar and his associate Madhavi Sonali alias Kiran were travelling on a motorcycle when Odisha police nabbed them, reports said. Police said there is a reward of Rs 20 lakh on Dubasi Shankar. His arrest is bound to severely impact the Maoist movement in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha borders, as he is one of the senior most and battle-hardened maoists.

Another report from Chhattisgarh said that Motiram Avalam, an Area Commander working in a Battallion of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) of the CPOI Maoist was arrested by police in Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh on Tuesda. Avalam is believed to have taken part in the massacre of 76 CRPF personnel in Sukma some five years ago.
