Hyderabad: In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, over 1.10 lakh students of SSC and Intermediate of the Telangana Open School Society (TOSS) are likely to be passed without the final examinations. For the exams initially scheduled in July this year, 63,581 including 48,725 regular and 14,856 failed candidates have paid fees for SSC exams. Likewise, 47,392 students including 36,806 regular and 10,587 once failed candidates registered and paid exam fees for the intermediate examinations.

Now, all those students who paid the exam fee and were eligible to appear for exams are likely to be declared pass, and they will be awarded minimum qualifying marks. “Given the Covid-19 pandemic, mostly exams of the TOSS will not be held in July and students will be passed with qualifying marks. Students who wish to improve their scores can appear for the exams whenever they are conducted,” a School Education Department official said.

Last year, the State government promoted all candidates who registered to appear for the SSC and Intermediate Examinations April/May 2020 of TOSS without holding the exams. This decision of the government has benefited 42,748 SSC students including 29,110 regular and 13,638 once failed candidates. Similarly, 25,302 regular and 9,914 once failed candidates of intermediate of the TOSS were passed. The students were awarded a minimum of 35 per cent qualifying marks in each subject.
