Hyderabad: Despite opposition from within the party over defections, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud said the entry of BRS MLAs into the party was entertained after approval from the high command and local leaders in the constituencies.

As the opposition parties had threatened to dethrone the democratically elected government, the MLAs were voluntarily extending support to the government to save democracy, he claimed during an informal chat with media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday.

“It is our responsibility to respect the leaders, who are trying to save the democracy,” Goud said, once again playing MLC Jeevan Reddy‘s criticism of the defections, stating that the senior leader was upset over the murder of his supporter.

All defections were entertained only after the approval of the high command and local leaders in the constituencies. Efforts were also being made to constitute local body committees involving the BRS leaders, who joined the Congress and local leaders, Goud said.

Referring to HYDRAA and River Musi demolitions, the TPCC president charged that opposition parties were indulging in mudslinging.

“BRS is using social media unethically and the Congress, which is ethical, is in a defense. KT Rama Rao is spending hefty amounts to operate social media groups from abroad,” Goud alleged.
