Hyderabad: A group of unidentified persons stabbed to death a woman allegedly over a financial dispute at Lokayuktha Colony in Saidabad here on Monday late night. She was attacked with knives, resulting in grievous injuries and death on the spot, police said.

The woman was identified as Manjula Kanodia, wife of Parimal Kanodia, a trader of medicines and surgical materials. Kanodia, police said, had borrowed handloans from different people and failed to repay and with pressure mounting, was absconding for the last one year.

Angered by this, a group of six financers allegedly barged into their house and after picking up an argument with Manjula, dragged her out of the house and stabbed her multiple times. She died on the spot while the assailants fled the spot.

The Saidabad police, who booked a case and are investigating, are verifying the financial transactions Kanodia was involved in and are questioning financiers.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) DS Chauhan, West Zone Joint CP AR Srinivas and Malakpet ACP Venkata Ramana visited the spot.

The body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
