Tragedy in Rajanna-Sircilla: Constable ends life after mother’s body recovered from Manair river
A tragic incident occurred in Rajanna-Sircilla district when constable Abhilash, unable to bear the grief of seeing his mother’s body recovered from the Manair river, jumped into the waters and drowned.
Rajanna-Sircilla: A policeman who could not bear the grief of watching his mother’s body being fished out of the Manair river, jumped into it to end his life. This heart-wrenching incident took place in Sircilla district on Friday.
Police said, Kanchikatla Lalitha, mother of constable Abhilash left home on Thursday and did not return home. Worried about her absence, her family members lodged a complaint with the police on Friday morning and even as a search was on, news broke out about a body being sighted in Manair river waters.
Police personnel and family members rushed to the spot and a grief-stricken Abhilash jumped into the water as he saw his mother’s body being fished out.
The family members and police personnel who were on the spot were too surprised to respond and Abhilash drowned. He was recruited as a police constable in 2012 and was working in the 17th police battalion. Abhilash’s father Devaraju died eight years ago. He is survived by two sisters.
