Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a two-year-old boy drowned in a water pit while playing near his house at New Jalalbaba Nagar in Rajendranagar late on Friday.

According to the police, the boy, Abubakar, was playing alone when he slipped and fell into the pit filled with rainwater, according to K. Kanakaiah, Inspector (Rajendranagar). The family members, who realized that Abubakar was missing for a quite long time, began searching in the surroundings and found his body in the water pit. They rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Following a complaint from Abubakar’s father Abdul Rahi, the Rajendranagar police have booked a case and are investigating. The body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital morgue and was handed over to the family after autopsy on Saturday.
