Hyderabad: In a hit-and-run incident, a man was killed while his teenage daughter injured when the bike they were riding on was struck down by an unknown vehicle on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru highway at Shamshabad on Tuesday night.

The victim was identified as K Kumar (40), a private employee from Bahadurpura and his injured daughter is Shantha (18).
According to the Shamshabad police, the mishap occurred when the duo was returning on the bike driven by Kumar from Palamakula in Shamshabad towards their home.

When their motorcycle reached the Tondupally railway Road Under Bridge (RuB), reportedly a heavy truck which was heading from Shadnagar towards Shamshabad, rammed their bike from behind. Both fell on the road.

“While Kumar suffered grievous injuries on the head and other parts on the body, Shantha survived with minor injuries. Kumar was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital where the doctors declared him dead,” officials said, adding that the teen was under treatment, with her condition stated to be stable.

The Shamshabad police have booked a case and are investigating. Efforts are on to identify the vehicle involved in the crash and nab the absconding driver.
