Bengaluru: In Bengaluru Rural district on Friday, a fatal accident occurred when an Andhra Pradesh RTC bus collided with a truck at Gottipura Gate in Hoskote taluk along the National Highway between Kolar and Hoskote. The bus was traveling from Tirupati to Bengaluru when the driver lost control, allegedly due to dozing off while overtaking, resulting in a severe collision. The accident has claimed the lives of four people, including two children, and injured 16 others. The deceased are identified as 44-year-old Keshava Reddy, 21-year-old Tulasi, four-year-old Pranathi, and one-year-old Maria, all hailing from Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh. The badly damaged bus and the wounded, with two in critical condition, are now at the center of an ongoing police investigation.

This tragic incident adds to a series of roadway accidents in the region. For instance, on May 21, a multi-vehicle accident in Vijayapura district involving an SUV, a bus, and a truck resulted in six fatalities. Similarly, on May 12, two separate accidents in Karnataka also led to multiple fatalities. In Chitradurga district, a head-on collision between an Innova car and a truck near the Kanive Anjaneya temple caused three deaths and left the car completely mangled. In another early morning accident in Hoskote taluk, an overspeeding tempo struck a motorcycle, resulting in two deaths and critical injuries to another person.

These events highlight the growing concerns over road safety and the importance of strict adherence to traffic regulations to prevent further loss of life and injuries. The investigations are ongoing as authorities work to determine the precise causes behind these accidents and to implement measures aimed at improving road safety for commuters across the region.
