Hyderabad: The Director General of Police, Dr Jitender, announced plans to set up state-of-the-art boxing and cricket coaching centres in the Telangana State Special Police (TGSP) Department.
On Friday, Passing out Parade ceremonies were conducted for constables who have completed their training in various TGSP battalions across the State. Among the 4,077 trained constables, 2,746 are graduates, 596 postgraduates, and 62 ex-servicemen.
Speaking at the event at the 1st Battalion in Yousufguda, Jitender highlighted the international achievements of Telangana athletes, such as boxer Nikhat Zareen and cricketer Mohammed Siraj, who have been appointed as Deputy Superintendents of Police in TGSP. He revealed that specialised training centres would be established under their leadership to train athletes to excel on an international level.
The DGP praised TGSP personnel for their contributions to maintaining law and order within the State and their commendable services in other States. He added that the trained personnel would also be deployed to curb drug trafficking and control cybercrime, along with contributing to GRP, CID, and other specialised divisions.
He announced that TGSP constables across the State successfully completed their training, including 548 from the Yousufguda battalion. This marks the largest-scale training conducted by the department to date.
Officials said cadets were trained in indoor and outdoor courses which are part of the induction programme curriculum. They were also given special training in self-defence tactics, online applications of Telangana police, forensic science etc.
The trainees underwent training on various subjects including Indian Criminal laws, investigation aspects, intelligence, internal security, and cybercrime among other key issues.
