Training on standardisation of prison products held at Cherlapalli jail

Hyderabad: To revive prison industries in all central and district prisons and ensure availability of prison-made products with uniform composition, quality, and price, a training programme on standardisation of prison products was organised at Central Prison, Cherlapalli on Monday.
The training, which was organised for superintendents of jails, in-charge officers for industries (jailors/deputy jailors), and instructors, was also aimed to improve visibility of the department’s welfare efforts for prisoners and provide sufficient work to prisoners, equipping them with skills, employment, and income, a press release said.
The training programme was held to equip prison industry staff with standardised formulations, preparation procedures, packaging guidelines, and branding aspects to ensure the products meet the commercial standards, Dr Soumya Mishra, Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, said.
Senior prison officials including N Murali Babu, Inspector General of Prisons, Dr D. Srinivas, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons (Hyderabad Range), Nawab Shiva Kumar Goud, Superintendent of Jails, Central Prison, Cherlapallii, T. Kalasagar, Superintendent of Jails, Central Prison, Sangareddy, CH. Dasharatham, Superintendent of Jails, Central Prison, Nizamabad, SM Khalid were present.
