Despite the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown, the camp received a good response.
Hyderabad: A blood donation camp was organised jointly by Telangana Real Estate Developers Association (TREDA) and Seva Bharathi in association with Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), Commissionerate of Police, at Saket Pranamam, Kompally here on Wednesday.
Despite prevailing lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the blood donation camp received a good response with residents from the community, TREDA members and Seva Bharthi volunteers participating in large numbers to donate blood, a press release said.
GV Ravi Kumar of Saket group said, “Donating blood in a way is testing your own health.” TREDA, executive vice-president, Vijaya Sai Meka said, “TREDA took up the initiative in collaboration with SCSC and Seva Bharathi in view of the low levels of blood in blood banks. Blood donors are not willing to come forward and donate blood at blood banks. To overcome this problem, we organise blood donation camps at their doorstep in various gated communities to eliminate their travel time and help overcome their fear of contracting Covid-19 infection.”
“We have been organising such blood donations camps at different locations ever since the pandemic erupted last year and have been successful in contributing 10,500 blood units to 17 blood banks in Hyderabad,” said Sreesa Bhargava, joint secretary, SCSC.
