Tree collapse claims life amid heavy rains in Suryapet

Suryapet: A 45-year-old man was killed when a large tree fell on him near a newly constructed school in Chandupatla village of Suryapet district on Wednesday.
The victim, identified as Kota Lakshminarayana, was travelling from Tanancherla to Chandupatla on a two-wheeler when the mishap occurred in the afternoon.
Eyewitnesses said that strong winds accompanying the heavy rains uprooted the tree, which fell directly on Lakshminarayana. Despite immediate efforts by local residents to save him, he died on the spot.
Suryapet district has recorded over five centimetres of rainfall in the past few hours, causing widespread disruptions including flooded roads and submerged crops.
