Sangareddy: The trial run of the Talelma Lift Irrigation Project (TLIP) has been commenced at Talelma village located on the foreshore of the Singur project, constructed across river Manjeera in the Sangareddy district, on Sunday. As many as 14 villages located in Andole, Alladurgam, Vatpally and Tekmal Mandal of Andole Assembly Constituency will benefit from the project.
The Project will irrigate 3,000 acres besides filling 34 minor tanks across these four mandals. Since these villages were located upstream of the Singur, it will not be possible to supply irrigation water through gravity or other proposed canals when the government has come up with the proposal of a mini-lift irrigation project.
Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran has examined the trial run of the project along with the engineering staff at Talelma village.
Speaking on the occasion, the Andole MLA said that Finance and Health Minister T Harish Rao will dedicate the project to the people shortly after carrying out the testing of pumps for a few days from today. Since the government is spending over Rs 36 crore on TLIP, Kranthi Kiran said it would cost them Rs 1.22 lakh on each acre. Under the lift irrigation project, about 117MCft water will be utilised from Singur. As many as four 430HP pumps were installed to pump out 41.30 cusecs of water from Singur project.
The farmers have elated in celebrations when the MLA had switched on the pumps to start the test run of pumps.
