Tribal devotees take part in ‘Sabari Smruthi Yatra’ at Bhadrachalam

Bhadrachalam: Tribal devotees from different parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh took part in large numbers in the annual Sabari Smruthi Yatra here on Wednesday.
Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Devasthanam organised the event to celebrate the legend of tribal woman Sabari’s meeting with Lord Rama ending her 13 year wait to meet him.
A ceremonial procession (Giri Pradakshinam) was carried out near the temple as devotees carried a portrait of Sabari and chanted slogans hailing Lord Rama. Kommu dancers in their traditional attire performed in the procession while women presented Rela dance.
Special pujas to the deity Lord Rama were conducted by the priests at Chitrakuta Mandapam on the temple premises using the flowers and fruits brought by the tribal devotees from the forests.
The tribal devotees were offered free darshan of the presiding deities at the main temple. Free food, accommodation and transport facilities to the tribal devotees were provided. The temple Executive Officer, B Sivaji took part in the programme.
