Medak: A young tribal farmer was electrocuted after Transco staff allegedly made him climb a transformer to resolve a technical glitch at Danduvani Kunta tribal hamlet in Tekmal mandal. The deceased was Islavath Anil (26), a resident of Shabad Thanda.

When power supply was disrupted in the village, residents called Transco staff. After identifying the issue, the staff allegedly made Anil climb the transformer to resolve it. No precautionary measures were taken, and Anil was not wearing gloves or shoes. While carrying out the work as instructed by the staff, he accidentally came into contact with live electric wires and died on the spot.

Family members and villagers who rushed to the spot were shocked to see his lifeless body hanging from the transformer. Holding the Transco staff responsible for the incident, villagers attacked them. They demanded compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the bereaved family and criminal cases against the staff.

After learning about the incident, Health Minister and local MLA Damodara Rajanarasimha asked the Superintending Engineer to extend support to the bereaved family. However, no directions were issued to initiate action against the officials accused of negligence.

The villagers staged a protest demanding action against the Transco staff.
