Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A tribal farmer was arrested for allegedly growing prohibited ganja as an intercrop in his red gram, cotton and chilly crops raised in his backyard at Errabanda hamlet under Koutagam village in Tiryani mandal on Tuesday. As many as 350 trees found in the field were destroyed.
Tiryani Sub-Inspector P Rama Rao said that the accused was Mesram Ramu, a native of Errabanda hamlet.
Ramu was found ganja during a cordon and search operation carried out by Tiryani police. He confessed to growing the trees to make fast bucks. A case was booked against him and the accused was sent to a judicial remand. Stringent action would be taken against growers of the banned trees.
