Kothagudem: The death of a tribal youth under suspicious circumstances at Kalavala Nagaram in Karakagudem mandal of the district triggered tension, with the deceased’s relatives accusing a Congress leader of trying to protect the accused.

According to sources, the deceased, Badavath Ravichandra (28), was found dead in an open field on the outskirts of the village on Monday. His relatives confronted Congress party mandal president Syed Iqbal Hussain when he arrived at the scene, alleging that he was trying to protect the accused.

An attempt was made to attack his vehicle, but police intervened, following which he left the scene. A protest was staged on the Karakagudem main road, demanding the arrest of Imran, the accused in the murder.

Responding to the allegations against him, Iqbal Hussain condemned claims linking him and the Congress party to Ravichandra’s death. He said it was inappropriate to spread malicious propaganda against him based on statements by certain leaders without ascertaining the facts.

Meanwhile, Kothagudem district Sevalal Sena president Daravath Suresh alleged that Ravichandra was murdered by strangling him with a belt. He demanded that the police immediately identify and arrest those responsible.
