Tributes paid to Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary at Telangana Bhavan

Hyderabad: Rich tributes were paid to Babu Jagjivan Ram, social reformer and freedom fighter on the occasion of his birth anniversary at Telangana Bhavan on Saturday. Madhu Sudhan Chari, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, and Errolla Srinivas, former Chairman of the SC/ST Commission and other leaders of the party were among those who took part in the celebrations.
Errolla Srinivas emphasized that Babu Jagjivan Ram was “not just a leader of a community. Babu Jagjivan Ram is a national leader.” He highlighted his contributions to the nation, including his early protests against untouchability during his school days.
The speakers demanded that Babu Jagjivan Ram be posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, in recognition of his unparalleled service to the country.
They criticized the Congress government in Telangana for allegedly neglecting the welfare of SC/ST communities. They accused the Congress of disregarding the Chevella Declaration and failing to uphold promises made to marginalized groups.
