The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party’s candidate for Adilabad Local Authorities Constituency (LAC) seat, Dande Vittal filed four sets of his nomination to district election officer Sikta Patnaik on the last date for submission of the papers here on Tuesday. He was accompanied by Forests Minister A Indrakaran Reddy and Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna.
Vittal reached the Collectorate at around 11.30 am and submitted the papers of his candidature to the election officer. He was congratulated by legislators, Zilla Parishad chairpersons, municipal chairpersons and other important leaders of the TRS at Adilabad MLA camp office. He exuded confidence of winning the polls. Earlier, Indrakaran Reddy handed over B-form to Vittal.
MLAs A Rekha Naik, Koneru Konappa, Rathod Bapu Rao, G Vittal Reddy, Durgam Chinnaiah, Diwakar Rao, existing MLC Purnam Satheesh Kumar, ZP chairpersons Rathod Janardhan, Kova Laxmi, K Vijaya Laxmi, N Bhagyalaxmi were among many who attended the event.
Native of Kaghaznagar
Hailing from Kaghaznagar town, Vittal had pursued engineering at Amaravati University of Maharashtra and earned MBA from Nagpur University. He then floated a software company in 2000 in the United States of America. He had returned to India and ventured into the fields of Information Technology, Health Care and Logistics.
The techie became a member of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and had dedicated himself for the party from 2009 to 2013. He was appointed as TRS party in-charge for Sanathnagar Assembly constituency and later, contested on the party ticket from the constituency to the State Legislative Assembly in 2014, unsuccessfully. He stood in second spot in the results of the polls.
Two Independents file nominations
On Monday, Gundavarapu Harini belonging to Ponkal village in Jannaram mandal and Mohammad Riyazuddin of Jannaram mandal headquarters filed nominations as Independent candidates for Adilabad LAC seat. It is learned that the Congress is planning to field a female nominee of Tiryani, while the BJP is going to give its ticket to a tribal woman.
937 votes
Out of the total 937 votes under the constituency, male voters account for 418 and there are 509 female voters. A major portion of the votes belong to the TRS party, which is set to bag the post with a thumping majority. A total of 65 ZPTC members, 554 MPTC members, 308 councilors and 10 ex-officio members will utilise their franchise.
