Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Wednesday said that sacrifices of the people for a separate State was the foundation for the TRS which spearheaded the Statehood movement.

Participating in the TRS membership drive at remote Gudepukunta Thanda of Penpahd mandal in the district, Jagdish Reddy said after State formation, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had focused on fulfilling the aspirations of Telangana martyrs on development of the State and welfare of the people. “Welfare of the people has been the top priority for the TRS government. The people of the State – from a new born baby to elderly persons – were reaping the benefits of welfare schemes taken up by the Chief Minister since 2014,” he added.

Stating that agriculture sector was given a raw deal by successive governments in erstwhile Adhra Pradesh, the Minister said the State government had succeeded in restoring the past glory to the agriculture sector in Telangana by improving irrigation facilities. The pro-farmer policies of the State government including Rythu Bandhu had instilled confidence among the ryots in the State, he added.

He said the long queue of tribal women at Gudepukunta Thanda for TRS membership was an indication of public support for the ruling party.

Stating that the decision-making mechanism of both Congress and BJP was in New Delhi, he said that voting for candidates from these parties would only result in policy decisions being taken by Delhi bosses. “The people of Telangana voted TRS to power in 2014 and 2018 elections,” he said.
