Hyderabad: On the occasion of National Disability Day, MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha interacted with individuals and various associations representing the differently-abled at her residence here on Thursday. During the interaction, Kavitha said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s vision was that people with physical disabilities should live with dignity and the State government had extended support for them since it came to power.
She said the Chief Minister had enhanced the job quota for the differently abled to four percent to ensure that they would get their due in employment opportunities. She said that self-employment loans have been provided to ensure that they become entrepreneurs. She also noted that a park for differently abled persons was also established in Hyderabad. Kavitha also assured them that she would take the organisations concerns to the notice of the Chief Minister.
On the other hand, MP J Santosh Kumar, Telangana Vikalangula Cooperative Corporation (TVCC) Chairman K Vasudeva Reddy, MLCs P Srinivas Reddy and Madireddy Srinivas Reddy participated in a programme organized at the TRS party office and interacted with the differently abled.
“The Chief Minister is providing the much needed assistance to differently-abled through Aasara scheme. Times have changed and the differently-abled persons are also excelling in all fields. There were many examples of them clearing IAS and other national level entrance examinations,” Santosh Kumar said.
Vasudeva Reddy said the State government has been distributing artificial limbs and hearing aids despite the financial constraints arising out of the lockdown. “Very soon, we will be handing over motor-driven three wheelers, laptops to the blind, 4G smart phones to hearing impaired, and battery run wheelchairs. We will allow the beneficiaries to apply online for these equipment,” he said.
