Khammam: Telangana’s State festival Bathukamma has gained international recognition because of the efforts by the TRS government, said TRS Lok Sabha Floor Leader and MP, Nama Nageswara Rao.
Extending Bathukamma greetings to all the women in the district, in a statement here on Tuesday, he said with the initiative by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Bathukamma, the festival of flowers, was recognised as the State festival after the formation of the State.
The festival reflects Telangana’s cultural richness and its identity. In order to make the festival more meaningful in the lives of women, the government has been spending Rs 333 crore annually to gift sarees to around 1.8 crore women across the State with around 800 designs, he said.
