Hyderabad: The Congress party on Friday alleged that the State government was responsible for the suicide by Sunil Naik, a Kakatiya University student.

TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, in a statement here on Friday, said Sunil Naik’s death “reflected the sorry state of affairs, especially employment issue in the State.”

He appealed to the youth and unemployed not to take any extreme step and assured that the Congress would fight for their cause.

“Congress president Sonia Gandhi sanctioned Statehood for Telangana as a means to stop youth from taking the extreme step. We will fight for jobs on behalf of the unemployed youth,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said.

AICC official spokesperson D. Sravan said it was a black day in Telangana as a Lambada student, who was aiming to become a collector, committed suicide.
