Nalgonda: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday said the TRS should seek the votes of graduates in the MLC elections only after starting the unemployment allowance and clear all arrears under the proposed scheme.
Speaking at a meeting of party leaders from Nalgonda, Suryapet and Yadadri-Bhongir districts on the outskirts of Nalgonda, Uttam said the TRS has promised unemployment incentive to the jobless youth in 2018, which was yet to be implemented. “It is nothing but cheating the unemployed in the State after winning the elections with their votes,” he said.
Stating that the TRS has no moral right to seek votes of youth in graduates MLC elections, he said that if the unemployment allowance arrears were to be calculated since 2018, there would be pending arrears of more than Rs 75,000 per unemployed person. “First of all, the State government should pay it to the unemployed before asking the votes in the elections,” he added.
Stating that BJP candidate Gujjala Premender was not known to anybody in the district, he said BJP MPs from the State kept quiet in Lok Sabha on the injustice meted out to Telangana in allocation of funds by the Centre. He said the State government also insulted the employees by offering 7.5 per cent fitment in the PRC. It also planned to reduce the House Rent Allowance (HRS) to the employees.
Stating that the Congress has provided an opportunity to a tribal leader Ramulu Naik from Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda graduates MLC elections, he pointed out that no political party has provided an opportunity to a tribal for a general seat. Ramulu Naik was also actively involved in Telangana agitation and hailed from a poor family. He would raise his voice in the Legislative Council on the issues of the youth, unemployed and employees, if voted to victory in the elections. Bhongir MP Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy, Congress senior leader V Hanumantha Rao and Balram Naik also attended the meeting.
