Hyderabad: Lashing out at BJP State president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar, TRS MLC and Rythu Bandhu Samithi Chairman Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said the former lacks basic knowledge about food grain procurement. At a time when the Centre went on record saying farmers suicides had come down drastically in Telangana, the BJP State leaders were deliberately making false statements to mislead the people in the State, he said.

Taking serious objections to the remarks made by Sanjay against Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Rythu Bandhu Samithi Chairman urged the BJP leaders to refrain from dancing to the tunes of their party high command, which was working against the interests of the farming community. While the State government was staging a protest in Delhi seeking uniform procurement policy, the BJP State leaders organised a counter protest in Hyderabad at the behest of their party leadership only to divert the public attention, he said.

“Sanjay and other BJP State leaders should first learn the difference between paddy and rice. They used photographs of wheat in their flex banners during their protest on paddy procurement. He should be ashamed for supporting union Minister Piyush Goyal who asked people of Telangana to consume broken rice,” he said, and accused the BJP of bringing in the contentious agricultural laws for the benefit of corporate companies like Adani Group.

On Sanjay demanding Minimum Support Price (MSP) for chilli farmers, he said the BJP State chief was unaware of the fact that the Centre fixes MSP which was not applicable for chilli crop. He demanded an explanation from the Food Corporation of India (FCI) on its refusal to procure parboiled rice from Telangana.

TRS MLA Guvvala Balaraju accused the BJP State leaders of becoming arrogant after winning just a couple of elections. He reminded that the BJP lost its sitting MLC seat under Graduates Constituency and their vote share was limited in the byelections to the State Legislative Assembly. He said both the BJP and Congress leaders colluded with each other to defeat TRS in a couple of elections which would not work in all the elections. “People will definitely confront Sanjay for his false propaganda,” he said.

Public Undertakings Committee chairman and MLA A Jeevan Reddy stated that the union government was misusing FCI to meet its political agenda just like other Central agencies like CBI, Enforcement Directorate and Income Tax. He demanded that the Centre respond favourably to the demands.

MLA Danam Nagender advised the BJP leaders against trying to provoke the TRS leadership and warned that any abusive remarks from the Opposition parties especially BJP will evoke a response in the same tone and tenor. He asked them not to take the patience of TRS as its weakness and held them responsible for any law and order problem arising in Hyderabad in near future.
