Adilabad: Several leaders of the TRS party are vying to bag the post of Member of Legislative Council (MLC) under local bodies of erstwhile Adilabad district. Notification to conduct elections to the post was released on Tuesday, while the process of receiving nominations was commenced on Wednesday. As many as 10 MLAs, a major portion of ZPTC members and MPTC members and councillors belong to the TRS party, indicating the strength of the party. The party can easily win the post. However, leaders of the party are curious over the selection of the candidate to the post by high-command of the pink party.

Present MLC P Satheesh Kumar is pinning hopes on the party to retain him in the post, while TRS leaders Satyanarayana Goud of Nirmal and Arigela Nageshwar Rao belong to Asifabad are learnt to be making their efforts to get the post. They have been camping in Hyderabad for the past 10 days in a quest to secure it. Reportedly, the leaders have met Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Municipal Administration Minister K Taraka Rama Rao. They are leaving no stone unturned to draw the attention of the big shots of the party. Some of them are trying to get the support of local legislators belonging to their community which is likely to play a vital role in the selection of the nominees.

Meanwhile, Mancherial district Libraries Corporation Chairman Renikuntla Praveen Kumar and former Adilabad Member of Parliament Godam Nagesh are also in the race to be nominated by the party for the post. While Praveen Kumar enjoys the support of government whip Balka Suman, Nagesh belongs to the Raj Gond community, a Scheduled Tribe (ST).
