TRS leads in sixth round in Dubbak by-election counting by 353 votes

So far 45,175 votes were counted, BJP got 20,226 votes, TRS polled 17,559 and Congress polled 3254 votes.

Hyderabad: TRS candidate Solipeta Sujatha gained lead over her rival M Raghunandan Rao of BJP in the sixth round in the ongoing counting of votes in Dubbak by-election. Sujatha polled 4062, Raghunandan Rao 3709 and Congress candidate Cheruku Srinivas Reddy polled 530 votes. However, the BJP candidate has been maintaining the slight margin that he has gained in the previous rounds. Raghunandan has a lead of 2,667 by the end of the sixth round. So far 45,175 votes were counted, BJP got 20,226 votes, TRS polled 17,559 and Congress polled 3254 votes.

Commenting on the Dubbak trends, senior BJP leader Ram Madhav has tweeted “An interesting fight is in Telangana between BJP and TRS in Dubbak Assembly bypoll. This could be a surprise victory for BJP.”

However, TRS is hoping for a turnaround once the votes from the rural segments are started counting.

Counting of votes in the Dubbak by-election has begun at the Indur Engineering College at Siddipet on Tuesday morning. While the postal and service votes were counted first the counting of votes polled in EVM machines was undertaken later on. Arrangements for counting of votes were made by the officials by strictly adhering to Covid-19 regulations.

The counting process will be over in 23 rounds and 14 tables each were arranged in two different halls. Counting of slips from five VVPATs will also be undertaken. The counting is undergoing under strict police vigil. In all 1, 64,192 (82.61 %) votes were polled on November 3.
