Hyderabad: TRS legislators dubbed BJP State president Bandi Sanjay’s padayatra as just another rally of the BJP cadres and nothing more. They stated that Sanjay was trying to provoke religious hatred, as he had no other issues pertaining to the TRS government and its administration in the State.
Speaking to mediapersons at TRS Legislative Party office here on Wednesday, former Minister and MLC P Mahender Reddy said people were happy and satisfied with the TRS rule in the State over the last seven years. “People are clever enough to differentiate between the TRS rule in the State and the BJP rule in the country over the last seven years, to chose what was best for them. People of all religions are happy and are living in harmony in the State under the Chandrashekhar Rao government,” he said.
Mahender Reddy said the BJP State president was only trying disturb the peaceful and secular atmosphere in the State. He said the BJP leaders have no issue to raise against the TRS government and had nothing noteworthy to mention about the BJP government at the Centre. “Instead of speaking on the issues, Bandi Sanjay is speaking nonsense about Sardar Patel and the Nizam Nawab. If the BJP government at the Centre is ready to release funds as much as they have done for Gujarat to Telangana, we will ponder over their criticism. Else, Sanjay should shut his mouth,” he added.
MLA Prakash Goud said Bandi Sanjay had no clue about the history of Hyderabad and was promising to change the city’s name. Rather than making fleeting comments, he demanded the BJP leaders to explain what the BJP government at the Centre had specifically done for Telangana and what they would do if voted to power in the State, else people will continue to show the door for BJP in the State.
MLA Kale Yadaiah stated that the BJP leadership was transporting people from other areas to attend the Pada Yatra taken up by Bandi Sanjay in order to make their meetings look crowded. He said though Sanjay wants to pull off his Pada Yatra like former Chief Minister late YS Rajashekhar Reddy and become the Chief Minister, he should remember there was no anti-incumbency in the State as people were happy with the Chandrashekhar Rao government which was providing all facilities to people in the State.
Jagga Reddy dares Sanjay to open debate
Congress working president and MLA T Jagga Reddy on Wednesday challenged BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay to a discussion on issues pertaining to Hindus in the State and the BJP’s contribution for their well-being and development. He said BJP was only interested in instigating religious hatred for its vote bank politics, and not actual development of Hindu or any other community in the country.
Speaking to mediapersons, Jagga Reddy dared Sanjay to convince the Modi government to reduce petrol, diesel and LPG gas prices for the benefit of at least the Hindu population. He also wanted Sanjay to use his influence and ensure that all the poor Hindus receive Rs 15 lakh promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his electoral campaign. “Sanjay said he would work for the Hindus who comprise 80 per cent of the population in the State. If he is a true leader of Hindus as he claims, he should convince his party leadership to provide these benefits to at least the Hindu population in the State,” he said.
The Congress legislator slammed the BJP State president for raking up the Nizam lands issue during the latter’s Padayatra and wondered what he was trying to convey, if not intending to inflame religious hatred. He pointed out that if the BJP leadership was keen on taking over Nizam’s properties, what stopped Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. “Or is Sanjay only bluffing to gain votes? If the government takes over these properties, will he take the responsibility of distributing the lands among poor Hindus? He should clarify,” he said.
