Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Thursday lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Shashank Goel against a local news channel for telecasting false news with malafide intention and appealed for necessary action.
In the complaint, TRS State General Secretary M Sreenivas Reddy said the local news channel was telecasting false news aimed at sabotaging the TRS vote bank in the Huzrabad Assembly by-poll to indirectly benefit a particular party.
The telecast shows Finance Minister T Harish Rao appealing to the public to vote for TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav clearly mentioning his name and serial number in the EVM. The TV news channel, however, misinterpreted the news claiming that the Minister was close and affectionate towards BJP candidate Eatala Rajender, which was absolutely false, he said.
Sreenivas Reddy urged the CEO to examine the news telecast and wanted it to be removed from the Youtube channel. He also sought action against the news channel management which was promoting false news.
