Hyderabad: Tearing into TPCC president A Revanth Reddy’s promises to address the issues of Dalits and Adivasis in the State, Ministers Vemula Prashanth Reddy and A Indrakaran Reddy said the Congress cadre itself was not ready to believe him.

They ridiculed the ‘Dalita Girijana Atma Gourava Dandora’ meeting organised by Congress commemorating the killing of tribals at Indravelli in 1981, stating that it focused more on criticising Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao rather than coming out clear with their agenda for upliftment of weaker sections.

Over the TPCC president’s promise to build a memorial for tribals who were killed at Indravelli, the Ministers reminded that it was the Congress government in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh which was responsible for those inhuman killings. They warned Revanth Reddy against using unparliamentary language against Chandrashekhar Rao and other leaders in TRS party.

Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan here on Tuesday, Legislative Affairs Minister Prashanth Reddy said Revanth Reddy was known to change colours as well as parties parties and the Congress cadre was now perplexed whether he belongs ti TDP or Congress. He advised the Congress leaders to remain cautious about Revanth Reddy who became TPCC president with the blessings of his mentor and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu. “He is just a drama artist trying to justify his role. But Revanth Reddy should remember that he will be imprisoned permanently since the vote-for-note case against him is nearing completion. He will be the first PCC president to end up behind bars,” he said, and challenged Revanth Reddy to field a Congress candidate in the upcoming Huzurabad bypolls and win it to prove his mettle.

Forests Minister Indrakaran Reddy warned Revanth Reddy against making derogatory comments at a personal level, failing which he would teach the latter a befitting lesson. He stated the Opposition parties were only demanding what the Chief Minister had already announced or promised. “The Chief Minister made it clear that he would find permanent solution to the Podu lands issue. He also announced that the Dalit Bandhu scheme will be implemented across the State in a phased manner,” he said.

Government Whips Guvvala Balaraju and Rega Kantha Rao dared Revanth Reddy to win the upcoming bypolls in Huzurabad constituency to prove his relevance in the State politics. They said the Congress leaders will not be able to survive, if the TRS leaders open their verbal attacks on the attrocities and incompetence of the Congress leadership. MLA G Vittal Reddy, former MP G Nagesh, and former MLC M Sreenivas Reddy, also spoke on the occasion.

‘Brand ambassador for blackmailers’

TRS launches a scathing attack against TPCC president A Revanth Reddy for his derogatory remarks against Chief Minister and TRS President K Chandrashekhar Rao. They strongly objected to the language used against the Chief Minister and advised him to change his language or be prepared to receive a fitting reply from the people of Telangana in elections.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Public Undertakings Committee chairman and MLA A Jeevan Reddy said Revanth Reddy was a brand ambassador for blackmailers and he was not qualified to criticise the Chief Minister. Terming the TPCC president as prisoner number 1779 of Chenchalguda and prisoner number 4170 of Cherlapalli, he demanded Revanth Reddy to explain how he accumulated numerous properties despite starting his career as a painter. He stated that Revanth Reddy who termed AICC president Sonia Gandhi as a demon of Telangana during his stint in TDP, was now praising her as the Goddess.

MLA N Bhaskar Rao said the TPCC president had no etiquette or culture and was using unparliamentary language against the Chief Minister only to remain in the news. “He is only day-dreaming about Congress coming to power and him becoming the Chief Minister. The TRS will continue in power for next two decades,” he said.

MLC Puranam Satish said the ugly side of Revanth Reddy was exposed at Indravelli meeting. He said the Congress leaders did not even apologise for the gory killings of tribals committed during their regime. The Opposition parties are unable to digest novel schemes like Telangana Dalit Bandhu and are facing severe identity crisis. “The tribal martyr’s memorial and double road were constructed by Chandrashekhar Rao who not only named new district after tribal icon Komuram Bheem, but also upgraded over 3,000 tribal hamlets into gram panchayats,” he said.

Former Minister and MLA Jogu Ramanna said Congress had done nothing for the socio-economic development of Dalits and tribals. “While Congress had ignored tribal festivals and culture, the TRS is celebrating the tribal festivals and culture officially. The issue of Podu lands, also will be resolved soon,” he asserted.

MLAs Chirumarthi Lingaiah and S Saidi Reddy also spoke.
