Hyderabad: Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao asked the party Parliament members to go all guns blazing and fight against the Centre for fulfilling the just demands of Telangana, during the Budget session of the Parliament scheduled to commence on Monday. He asserted that the voice of Telangana should be heard loud and clear in Parliament.

During the TRS Parliamentary Party meeting held for nearly six hours at Pragathi Bhavan on Sunday, the Chief Minister reportedly pointed out that the Centre did not fulfil any promises made to the people of Telangana under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act or otherwise. He wanted the TRS MPs to go on a full-throttle attack against the ruling BJP at the Centre which was not responding to the pleas from Telangana.

“The BJP is adopting anti-people, especially anti-farmers and anti-employees policies as well as selling the public sector undertakings (PSUs) without any concern for the people of this country. The Centre also failed to fulfil promises made to Telangana since the State formation. Instead, the Telangana BJP leaders continue to hurl choicest abuses over the State government’s initiatives which are being appreciated by the union Ministers. We need not tolerate this and instead, must expose the double standards of the Opposition leaders,” he explained.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister is learnt to have made several suggestions on pending issues to be achieved from the union government. The MPs were asked to raise issues pertaining to pending funds from the Centre including GST dues.

Sources said Chandrashekhar Rao handed over a list of 23 pending issues pertaining to the State, to all the TRS MPs including nine Lok sabha members and five Rajya Sabha members. He wanted them to raise pending issues pertaining to Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act including Tribal University, Bayyaram steel factory, Kazipet coach factory and others as well as the grants recommended by the 14th and 15th Finance Commissions. He also asked them to join hands with the Opposition parties on issues of mutual interest including the fight against the sale of public sector undertakings. He wanted them to vehemently oppose any such measures by the Centre.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Chevella MP G Ranjith Reddy said the Chief Minister had already taken up several issues with the Centre along with the Ministers and MPs raising these issues repeatedly on different platforms. While the Chief Minister had issued directions on the strategy to be adopted by the TRS MPs in the Parliament, they would respond to the union Budget 2022-23 only after observing the allocations made to Telangana State.
