Hyderabad: The TRS party plenary and general body meeting will be held at Hitex on October 25, to elect the party president and also discuss issues pertaining to Telangana State as well as the party’s future plans. The party also plans to organise grand celebrations and a massive public meeting — ‘Telangana Vijaya Garjana’ — in Warangal on November 15, marking 20 years of its formation.
Revealing this to media persons at Telangana Bhavan, the TRS party headquarters here on Wednesday, party working president KT Rama Rao said as per the party Constitution, the party president’s election should be held once in two years. It has also been a tradition to organise the party plenary on April 27 every year marking the party’s Foundation Day. However, both of them could not be held for the last three years due to the Lok Sabha polls in 2019 and the Covid-19 pandemic over the last two years.

“Currently, the severity of Covid-19 in Telangana is low compared to other States in the country. Vaccination is also being carried out extensively and the State is likely to achieve cent per cent vaccination within a month. Hence, we decided to organise the party plenary on October 25,” he said.
Subsequently, the election schedule will be released on October 17 and nominations will be accepted till October 22. While nominations will be scrutinised on October 23, the last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 24. The party president will be elected during the general body meeting at Hitex to be held on October 25. The meeting will be attended by 14,000 TRS elected representatives from across the State. The party plenary session will continue after the presidential election on October 25 where extensive discussions will continue on State-level issues as well as other issues.
Former MLC M Sreenivas Reddy will be the Returning Officer, while Paryada Krishnamurthy will be the supervising officer. Former Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary will be the chairman of the resolutions committee. The selection of the party’s district presidents, district committees and State committees will be announced after the election of the party president.
As per the directions of the party founder president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the party leadership successfully completed the formation of the village, mandal, municipal ward and town/city committees. About 12,769 village committees and 3,600 ward committees, along with Basthi committees, division committees, mandal and town/city committees have been formed, as part of efforts to strengthen the party from the grassroots level. The committees of TRS affiliated organisations have also been constituted simultaneously.
Rama Rao said the bi-decadal celebrations of TRS will be organised on a massive scale in Warangal on November 15, when the “Telangana Vijaya Garjana” will be held. He recalled that TRS was set up with the sole aim of achieving Statehood for Telangana and realised the dreams of the people of Telangana, despite numerous hurdles. He urged the party cadre including elected representatives and members of various party committees to attend the meeting in large numbers. The party leadership will hold preparatory meetings for the Telangana Vijaya Garjana in all the Assembly constituencies on October 27.
